German 3/4a "Concepts"werde = used with another verb to show future (see poster)

wurde = passive; shows that someone “got verbed” and uses a past tense verb (Ich wurde … geschlagen.)

würde = theoretical of what you would do. Used with a normal verb at the end. (Ich würde … kaufen.)

war = is just the word for “was adjective” and it is not theoretical at all (Ich war müde. Du warst nicht da.)

wollte = past tense of “ich will” and of “ich möchte” so you just use it like a modal.

wäre [adj.] gewesen = would have been [adjective]; (Ich wäre glücklich in Berlin gewesen)

hätte … geverbed = what you would have done (not transportation)

wäre … geverbed = what you would have done (for use with transportation verbs)

    • Welcome to German
Ich bin froh wieder angefangen zu haben. If you are new, please spend some time introducing yourself to me before or after class. I really want to get to know all the new freshmen, transfers and exchange students right away. I hope the trimester is off to a great start for each of you and that you will have a lot of success this year! - Herr Megowan

We will be taking a group to Germany during the summer of 2008. It is still too early to apply but it is never too early to think about saving up some money, practice your German and talking to your parents. Danke! - Megowan
