Have a wonderful week!
First Week RecapWow! It was a busy week; I definitely hit the ground running. I hope this weekend was a time of rest for everyone; we were all tired by Friday. Being in school full time is a big transition!

We spent a lot of the week getting used to the routine, getting to know each other, and practicing some of the skills in reading, writing, and math that may not have been used much over the summer.

This upcoming week, we will be getting more into our regular schedule. Our time will be more structured and we will begin to have pull outs for English Language Development. We will also have our first House Assembly on Wednesday. Don't forget to wear your house color! I'm excited to get into the groove of the new school year; it's always nice to have a schedule.

A few items to note:

If you wish to celebrate your child's birthday with treats, please let me know. Because of some allergies and other dietary restrictions, as well as a desire to encourage healthy eating habits, I am going to change my policy a bit. You may bring in fruit, popcorn, pretzels, or other healthy snacks along with juice, water, or milk to drink. Please no cookies, cupcakes, or other sugary treats. Normally we will do celebrations at the end of the day to limit loss of instructional time.

Your child may keep a water bottle on his/her desk for use during the day. Please send only water in the bottles; no flavored drinks or juice. This helps keep desks from getting sticky in case of spills.

If you expressed interest in volunteering, I will be in contact with you this week or next to set up a schedule. Thank you for your willingness to help; I truly appreciate it!
