8th Grade HealthFebruary 03, 2009We've had a great trimester of Health so far. Right now we are in the middle of growth and development. Last Friday, January 30th, we tarted the male reproductive system. We continued with the male reproductive system on Monday February 2nd and are starting the female reproductive system today. Tomorrow we will attend the Gold Ball tournament which Ackerman is hosting. On Thursday we will continue with the female reproductive system. The following are topics that we will be going over the next couple of weeks: Reproduction and pregnancy, fetal development, birth control, STD's and HIV/AIDS.

The Promises Assembly is being held in the main gym at Ackerman on February 19th at 10:00a.m. Promises is a 40 minute youth drama production which presents the benefits of sexual abstinence for teens in an upbeat positive manner. These young people sensitively portray the dangers faced by sexually active teens, such as emotional consequnces, teen pregnancy, STIS (sexually transmitted infections) and HIV/AIDS. Positive modeling of effective ways for teens to manage sexual pressure is included as well as examples of healthy relationships.
